This time of year this is not such an untypical scene. As February moves to a close, the March winds arrive early and tumbleweeds might be found almost anywhere. This one in downtown Grandview--not sure what she is going to do with it once she pulls it out of the street. Last week we filled our small pickup with the ones that had found their rest against our fence. Might be a good idea for a photo expedition--seeking out the tumbling tumbleweeds.

We used to have tumbleweed races as kids growing up in Wichita,KS. We could catch them as they blew down the street and then race to see who won. Trouble was we couldn't keep up with them so we never really knew, but it was a lot of fun.
Must be quite a shock when you are walking down the street, minding your own business, and a tumbleweed whacks you in the backside! Be sure and load up your iPod with Sons of the Pioneers songs before starting your search for tumbleweeds.
