The reason for the feeding progrma at Oak Creek Wildlife Area is not because the elk are hungry. They would do find without theprovided hay. No, they would do fine eating the orchards and farmlands just a few minutes farther down the slope. As our guide said, "The nearest farm is twenty minutes away.
