We have lived in the Yakima Valley for over thirty years, raised our kids here, worked here, worshipped here, played here, volunteered here, and now retired here. It's a good place to live.
I plan to visit the various small towns of the valley--and even Yakima itself sometimes--to share a glimpse of what is good and what is problematical here.
I am a Grandma blogger, posting some regular stuff on some regular blogs--photos and memes. Most recently I have primarily participated in a weekly header challenge, but hopefully I will get back to more regular blogging again.
...where I keep all sorts of things including excursions outside the Valley and the host posts of Odd Shots on Mondays.

The route home #1
On the way back to the Valley from Maryhill, we could have stopped at the Toppenish Wildlife Refuge, where on one visit we saw this Long-Eared Owl. (This will enlarge if you click it.)
I posted pics of longeared owls on Nov 1st at a rehab center for owls in Oliver which have now been released to the wild. my pics are thru a chain link fence, much easier to see than in a pine tree.
Hello fellow pacific northwesterner (just across the mountains)... I think this picture is great... I'm in the city and can you believe I don't think I've ever seen a wild owl.

It looks pretty neat but I wish the picture could have been larger when I clicked on it. I would have missed it for sure.
